Thunderstorm Local Lightning Sensor TSS928

Overview

The Thunderstorm Local Lightning Sensor TSS928 delivers the superior performance airport operations require from a local-area lightning tracker. The TSS928 utilizes advanced sensor technology and patented lightning algorithms that provide the most precise detection of any stand-alone lightning sensor available in the world today.

It meets ASOS requirements and provides advanced awareness of potential lightning threats, so you can quickly assess risks, promptly circulate advance warnings, more efficiently initiate safety procedures, and isolate airport equipment with full confidence.

Boasting a 30-mile best accuracy range, the TSS928 differentiates between cloud, intra-cloud, and cloud-to-ground lightning. Powerful sensors capture data on direction and distance, as well as cloud lightning discharges.

The TSS928 detects cloud and cloud-to-ground lightning within 56 km (35 mi), as well as optical, magnetic, and electrostatic pulses from lightning events with zero false alarms.

Its sensors have a detection efficiency of 98% for thunderstorms within 19 km (12 mi) presenting three or more cloud-to-ground discharges, and approximately 70% for cloud-to-ground flashes within 18.5 km (11.5 mi).

In addition to collecting cloud and cloud-to-ground lighting data on approaching storms, TSS928 sensors also detect real-time lightning events for storms that develop directly overhead.

You get advance warnings that allow you to identify the most at-risk areas and determine the best ways to maintain safe, efficient, and continuous airport operations.

By delivering timely, detailed lightning data, TSS928 sensors let you make the right call regarding potential storm threats.

They also have patented optical signal processing and proprietary optical-coincidence technology to prevent false alarms, which helps you eliminate unnecessary down time while still keeping ground crews, outdoor equipment, airplanes, and passengers safe.

Believe you can and you are halfway there.
